About the Heritage Commission
The Stratham Heritage Commission is state-mandated to recognize, use, and protect our community's resources that are valued for their historic, cultural, aesthetic, or community significance. Members of the Commission participate in activities aimed at preserving the community character of our town. In particular, a database of Stratham's historic structures is being researched and compiled by members with the support of the town. Once gathered, this information will be organized into an historical survey useful to the Planning Board, Conservation Commission, Zoning Board and others interested in the role of our resources in defining and preserving our town's heritage. Additionally, the Commission continues to collect and verify veteran's names for engraving in the Veterans' Garden at the Stratham Hill Park. We welcome new participants; join at any time during the year. Individuals interested in history or with database management expertise are invited to visit a meeting, write us c/o the Municipal Center (10 Bunker Hill Ave.) or contact the Commission at StrathamHeritage@live.com. The Heritage Commission meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at the Stratham Municipal Center. In the summer there is one meeting to be determined by the members present at the June meeting. Meeting day is reassessed annually in August or September and, if appropriate, a new meeting day is determined to accommodate volunteers' schedules.
