At about 11:35 am on today’s date, the Stratham Police Department School Resource Officer was advised by school staff at the Cooperative Middle School that a live shot gun shell had been located by a student in the boys’ locker room. Based on the school response plan, the staff put the building into a lockdown and school and police personnel began to investigate the incident.
During the preliminary investigation, it was determined that the lockdown would be adjusted to a secure campus which allowed for normal school activity to continue while the investigation continued. School staff and police personnel conducted numerous interviews and ultimately conducted a sweep of the building to include school staff checking all of the lockers in the school. This was done to ensure that no firearms were in the school. After the investigation, it was determined that no firearm was present in the school and the secure campus was lifted at about 1:25 pm.
The School staff and Stratham Police Department were assisted by members of the Exeter Police Department.

Information on crimes is not always reported to the police for many different reasons. Sometimes the victim does not want to make a fuss or it does not seem serious enough to report.
The same is true for individuals who are a witness of a crime. A simple phone call to Crime Stoppers could solve a crime that is on-going or was never reported by a victim. You can help!
