Blind Exemption Information

Blind Exemption (RSA 72:37)

A property owner who is legally blind as determined by the Department of Education, Bureau of Services for Blind and Visually Impaired shall be exempt each year on the assessed value, for property tax purposes, of his or her residential real estate to the value of $15,000.

  1. Application may be acquired at the Assessor's Office or downloaded from this link. (State Form PA29)
  2. New applications must be submitted to the Assessor's Office by April 15th of the tax year in which you apply.  
  3. You must qualify as of April 1st of the tax year in which you apply.
  4. A certification letter from Bureau of Services for Blind and Visually Impaired must also be submitted with the application.

If the property is owned by a Trust or resident has Life Estate Interest an additional form must be completed which can be obtained at the Assessor's Office or downloaded from this link: State Form PA33.
