Stratham Historical Society Scholarships


Winfield Foote Award for Academic Excellence, High School Seniors, $1,000.00

Applicants must be graduating high school seniors from SAU 16. Stratham residents graduating from private schools outside the district may also apply. Priority will be given to Stratham residents.

Special consideration will be given to demonstrated proficiency in those areas that relate to the Stratham Historical Society's mission statement (i.e., Social Studies and History). SAU 16 students who have achieved academic success at the Seacoast School of Technology are also encouraged to apply.

Applicants must be a legal resident of Stratham, Brentwood, East Kingston, Exeter, Kensington, or Newfields.
Applicants must be entering their junior or senior year at an accredited four-year college or university.
In case of a tie, Stratham residents will be given priority.

Award Criteria: Proposals evaluated on the overall quality of organization and written expression, appropriateness of the research methods to the research question, and the fit with the mission of the Stratham Historical Society. Priority given to:

  • Topics specifically related to Stratham and Seacoast New Hampshire.

Winfield L. Foote Benefactor Grant

Award Criteria:

  • Need for project is adequately described.
  • Goals and budget are clearly stated.
  • Project is designed to benefit the Stratham Historical Society, Inc.

Number of Grants: The Society may make one or more awards to grant applicants for projects related to the mission of the Stratham Historical Society.

Who Can Apply: Applications will be accepted from organizations, community and civic groups, schools, or individuals. Only one project may be submitted per group or individual in a given funding round.

Grant Amount: Applicants may request desired amount to fund a project to be ideally completed within one year. The actual amount of the Grant Award will be determined by the remaining available funds after Scholarship Awards. Partial funding for a project may be approved as long as the project remains viable in doing so.
