Grant Award Criteria

Purpose: It is the purpose of the Stratham Historical Society, Inc. a non-profit organization to establish a program of educational awards, with the moneys received from the investment of the Winfield L. Foote Endowment Fund. These scholarships and awards shall be known as “The Stratham Historical Society Winfield L. Foote Award for Academic Excellence". The criteria for awarding these monies shall be in keeping with the stated mission of the Society – “to promote the study of the prehistoric and historic past of  Stratham, New Hampshire, and of communities and cultures related to that history.”

Award: The Society may make one or more awards to grant applicants for projects related to the mission of the Stratham Historical Society, depending on funds available.
 
Funds: Applicants may request desired amount to fund a project to be ideally completed within one year. The actual amount of the Grant Award will be determined by the remaining available funds after Scholarship Awards.

It is suggested that applicants include information as to the viability of their project (or a component of their project) should available funds be limited to a partial award. (May be described on back of application.)

Eligibility: Applications will be accepted from organizations, community and civic groups, schools, or individuals. Only one project may be submitted per group or individual in a given funding round.

Eligible use of funds: Funds are to be used only for projects which will benefit the Stratham Historical Society, Inc.

Accounting: Applicants shall maintain an accurate record of expenditures incurred and shall submit, if requested, these records upon project completion. Grant recipients should notify the committee upon completion.

Criteria: Applications will be reviewed based on the following criteria:
-Need for project is adequately described
-Goals and budget are clearly stated
-Project is designed to benefit the Stratham Historical Society, Inc.

Applications must be received by mail by May 25.

The committee reserves the right to accept or reject any project application.
The committee will respond to all applications.

The decision of the Scholarship committee is final.
