October BOS Newsletter

October 18, 2017

Dear Stratham Resident,

The change of seasons brings several important dates to remember.

Hazardous waste disposal day is set for Saturday, October 21st from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Exeter Public Works Garage, Newfields Road (Route 85), Exeter.  Items such as pesticides, pool chemicals, motor oil, antifreeze, rechargeable batteries, mercury thermometers, rust remover and paint thinners are just a few of the items that will be accepted.  Electronics will not be accepted at this time.  A donation of $5 per household is requested to help offset costs.  For a complete list of what is and what is not accepted, please visit https://www.strathamnh.gov/sites/g/files/vyhlif5051/f/uploads/hazardous_waste_day.pdf

The Stratham Police Department will be holding a ‘Drug Take Back’ event on Saturday, October 28th, from 10:00am until 2:00pm.  Bring your unwanted or expired medications to the Police Department and drop them off in the front lobby.  NO LIQUIDS OR SYRINGES will be accepted.  There will be a police officer on site during the event.

The Transfer Station will begin winter hours December 2nd and continue through March.  Hours are 9:00 am until 4:00 pm on the first and third Saturdays of the month.  For more information regarding what may and what may not be disposed of, as well as the fee schedule, please visit our website at  www.strathamnh.gov/transfer-station

As our thoughts turn toward winter, a reminder of the following:  Town Ordinance provides for “NO PARKING” on any street or property plowed by the Town of Stratham or any other place where & when snow removal would be hindered.  This parking ban is effective 11 pm through 7 am, November 1 through April 30.  Cars in violation will be towed per Town of Stratham Ordinance #1-93.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Stratham will celebrate Halloween holding Trick or Treat night on Monday, October 30th, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  Having specific hours allows the Police and Fire Departments to better plan for safety.  Please be safe and have fun!  Enjoy the fall weather and  what remains of the foliage.
