Stratham Community Power

COMMUNITY POWER IS A TRANSFORMATIVE WAY TO BUY ELECTRICITY (see video)

LOCAL CONTROL:  Democratizing energy procurement to the community level.

BUYING EFFICIENCY:  Community Power develops rates utilizing a portfolio of contracts.  Utilities must buy based on State regulations.

BUYING POWER:  Economics of scale - Community Power represents 25% of NH population and is growing.

PROJECTED AVERAGE SAVINGS PER HOUSEHOLD:  Average Stratham monthly residential electricity usage in the past 4 months ending July 31 was 788 KWH.  If Community Power had been in place, each household would have saved $315 compared with the Unitil default rate over four months.

CUSTOMER CHOICE:  Customer can choose what types of energy supply they want, and can also choose whether to participate in the program.

CLEAN ENERGY:  Stratham Community Power can both benefit from and invest in the development of clean energy resources.

INNOVATION:  Community Power programs can offer benefits for residents and businesses including affordable rates, green power options, demand response and time varying rates, home energy storage or other technology innovations.

STRATHAM COMMUNITY POWER WILL ONLY LAUNCH IF IT IS ABLE TO INITIALLY OFFER RESIDENTIAL RATES THAT ARE LOWER THAN THE UNITIL DEFAULT RATE.

UNITIL STILL DELIVERS ELECTRICITY & HANDLES BILLING

NO ADDITIONAL COST TO STRATHAM TAXPAYERS

TOWN MEETING APPROVAL OF STRATHAM'S PROPOSED COMMUNITY POWER ELECTRIC AGGREGATION PLAN WILL ENABLE STRATHAM COMMUNITY POWER TO MOVE FORWARD.  Town Meeting legal notice here.
