STRATHAM ADOPTS LEVEL 2 WATER RESTRICTIONS
Stratham has now joined the communities which are experiencing a severe drought.  Stratham is urging water conservation and is advancing its lawn watering restrictions in accordance with RSA 41:11d.  At this time, the Town is moving to Level 2 lawn watering restrictions.

Until further notice, lawn watering will be limited as part of a statewide strategy for preserving groundwater supplies that serve as critical resources for Stratham households and businesses.  All efforts to curb and reduce use of water during this time will benefit water supplies we all rely on.  Residents should be aware, the Board may advance to additional restriction levels as drought conditions persist or worsen.

A Level 2 restriction means:

  • Lawn watering by odd numbered addresses is allowed on Mondays and Thursdays.
  • Lawn watering by even numbered addresses is allowed on Tuesdays and Fridays.
  • Lawn watering shall not occur between the hours of 8AM and 7PM.

The RSA water restriction regulation adopted by the Board can be found on the Town’s Drought Resource Page.

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

THE GUNDALOW COMPANY PRESENTED BY THE STRATHAM HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Join the Gundalow Company as we recap the importance of gundalows in the founding of many major towns including Stratham, Dover, South Berwick, and Exeter.  We will start by learning what exactly a gundalow is and how it helped develop some of these influential towns.  Then we will continue to talk about the disappearance of gundalows on the waterways and the emergence of the Gundalow Company.  Finally, our presentation will end by talking about the many programs the Gundalow Company offers to help protect and preserve the Piscataqua region's maritime history and environment through education and action.  We will also explain ways that you can get involved now to help promote our mission and inspire the next generation of river stewards.  This program will be held on Monday, September 12th in the Morgera Room at the Fire Station beginning at 7:00 pm.  Find more info here.

DONATION TO STRATHAM FROM SEACOAST VELO KIDS
Seacoast Velo Kids (SVK),  is a local 501.c.3 in NH supporting youth cycling initiatives in the seacoast areas of NH and ME.  In July of 2021, SVK entered into an agreement with the Town of Stratham where they proposed to raise the funds needed support a renovation of the pump track currently located at Stratham Hill Park.

Over the past year SVK engaged in fundraising efforts focused on achieving that outcome through two primary mechanisms.

• A public “Go Fund Me” campaign with 74 donors raising $9740.51.  Donors supported their efforts to “upgrade and improve the layout of the track."
• A grassroots request to local businesses to support the same efforts mentioned above that  raised an additional $5,000.00 from three (3) organizations.

In total, SVK raised $14,740.51.  SVK would like to offer the fund raised as a donation to the town of Stratham to pursue improvements to the pump track.

A public hearing will be held on Tuesday, September 6th at 7pm to accept those funds by the Stratham Select Board from Seacoast Velo Kids for the improvements to the pump track at Stratham Hill Park.

 red cross
The American Red Cross is asking donors to make and keep their donation appointments as summer winds down. It’s not too late to be a part of something big this summer.  As we flip the calendar to August, there’s no time to wait − patients are trusting blood and platelet donors to ensure lifesaving care is ready as soon as it’s needed.  All who come to give in August will receive a $10 gift card by e-mail to a merchant of choice.  Don’t delay.  Book a donation appointment and help keep the blood supply stable before fall routines may make it tougher to schedule time to give.  There will be a Community Blood Drive at Stratham Community Church on Saturday, August 27th from 9:30 am – 2:30 pm. Schedule your appointment today by visiting www.redcrossblood.org and using code STRATHAMCOMMUNITYCHURCH
