FIRE DEPARTMENT NEWS
Congratulations to Stratham's two newest firefighters, Leah Richard and Dustin Almon (center).  Leah and Dustin completed the NH State Firefighter 1 course over the last 5 months and are now certified to perform Interior Firefighting. We thank them for their service and congratulate them on their accomplishment.

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE: COMCAST CABLE FRANCHISE AGREEMENT RENEWAL
The Town’s current Cable Franchise Agreement with Comcast of Maine/New Hampshire, Inc. expires September 7, 2021.  This agreement concerns Cable television service and not internet services; in addition, these agreements are not permitted under law to address channel access or cable packages options.  The Stratham Select Board will hold a public hearing pursuant to NH RSA 53-C:3-a on the draft proposed renewal agreement on Monday, August 2, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Center, 10 Bunker Hill Ave, Stratham, NH.

Cable TV franchising is governed by federal and state law. The Select Board is the “franchising authority,” because the company will occupy public land: the public rights-of-way.   The Select Board has worked with Counsel from Drummond Woodsum to arrive at a draft renewal agreement for a ten-year period following the current agreement expiration.  The proposed renewal agreement is posted here and available at the Town Clerk’s office.  For additional information, please contact the Town Administrator’s office by calling 603 772-7391 ext. 187.

DID YOU WORK AT PEASE BETWEEN JAN. 2004 AND MAY 2014?
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) are currently conducting a health study, the Pease Study, looking at the human health effects of PFAS exposure through contaminated drinking water at the Pease International Tradeport (see factsheet).  If you are an adult who worked at the Pease International Tradeport or know of children who attended daycare at the Tradeport anytime from January 2004 to May 2014 you may be eligible to take part in the study.  See more information here.

ROADSIDE MOWING
Reminder: roadside mowing will take place beginning next week (week of August 2nd).  Please see the July 16th Select Board Newsletter for more information.
