Vaccination Reminder: The Select Board encourages all eligible residents to get their Covid vaccination.  Vaccines are available in Stratham at Shaws-Osco and CVS Pharmacy.  Other available locations can be found at https://www.vaccines.gov/search/.  A listing of percent of population partially or fully vaccinated by Town can be found here.  According to NH DHHS data, Stratham has 69.00% with at least 1 dose; 63.90% fully vaccinated.

TRANSPORTATION SURVEY
The NH Department of Transportation will update the Ten-Year Plan of state transportation projects next year and is currently accepting public and community input. The Ten Year Plan includes all major state transportation improvements programmed over a 10-year horizon.  For roadway improvements, a road must be a state maintained road to qualify for inclusion in the Ten Year Plan.  State-maintained roads in Stratham include Route 101, Route 108, Route 33, Bunker Hill Avenue, Winnicutt Road, Squamscott Road and a small section of Route 111 at Marin Way.

In preparation for this process, the Stratham Planning Board is interested in learning more about your opinions regarding major transportation needs and priorities in Stratham.  Your feedback is important.  Please complete this brief survey to lend your input to this important discussion.

FAREWELL TO OUR TEEN LIBRARIAN
After 14 years of service assisting the teens of Stratham, Lucia Von Letkemann is leaving the Wiggin Memorial Library.  Please join us on Saturday, October 2nd at 1:00 at the Scamman Pavilion at Stratham Hill Park as we wish her well on her new venture.  To learn more about Lucia's reflections on the Teen Room, read here.

SEPTIC
SEPTIC SMART WEEK
SepticSmart Week is this month from September 20th to 24th.   A septic system failure can impact your family, community and wallet.  Regular maintenance will help prevent wastewater from backing up into your home, overwhelming your leach field, and polluting nearby waterbodies.  Home and septic inspections are a part of every real estate transaction in NH, so regular pumping of your septic tank will protect your property's value as well as your health and the environment.  Please see this brochure detailing the importance of getting your septic system pumped!

TRICK OR TREAT NIGHT

HISTORIC DEMOLITION REVIEW
An important part of what gives Stratham character and a sense of community is its history.  One way of acknowledging this history is by preserving or at least documenting historic buildings and structures.  Several important buildings in Stratham represent excellent examples of particular styles of architecture, or represent a significant era, or a milestone in Stratham’s history.  These historic buildings are worth preserving or documenting for a number of reasons.  To further this end, Stratham voters have passed a Historic Demolition Review process.  Prior to the Town granting a demolition permit in order to raze a structure or a substantial portion of a structure that is more than fifty (50) years old, the Demolition Review Committee must make a determination if the building is historically significant or not.  If the Committee determines a building is not significant, demolition may proceed.  If a structure is determined to be significant, a maximum 60-day waiting period is required during which the Committee will conduct a more thorough investigation and work with the property owner to explore potential alternatives to demolition.  If no resolution is reached during this process, a property may move forward with demolition if a permit is issued.  It is the Town’s hope that by working collaboratively with property owners, more historic structures can be preserved in Stratham for future generations to enjoy.  If you have questions about this process, please contact the Planning or Building Departments at planning@strathamnh.gov.
