Stratham Chief of Police to Retire.

John Scippa has announced his intention to retire from his position as Stratham’s Police Chief effective December 7, 2018.

Chief Scippa said, “I’m very excited to announce that I’ve accepted a position with US Senator Maggie Hassan’s office.  I’ll be supporting the Senator’s efforts on a wide range of priorities, including serving as the point person for issues affecting New Hampshire’s law enforcement community.”

“I join the Board in wishing Chief Scippa all the best as he embarks upon this exciting new role.” said Selectman Chair Mike Houghton.  “He has served the Town of Stratham well and has distinguished himself through his dedication, professionalism, and compassion.  His leadership in his department and in the community has raised us to new levels and will truly be missed.”

Chief Scippa has served in New Hampshire Law Enforcement for over 35 years, entering service as a part-time officer in 1983.  He transitioned into full-time service in 1989 with the Rye Police Department.  He then worked as a Training Specialist for NH Police Standards and Training Council primarily tasked with recruit training at the NH Police Academy.  He then returned to the Seacoast as the Executive Officer of the North Hampton Police Department.  Chief Scippa was hired by the Town of Stratham to lead the police department on November 16, 2009.  Chief Scippa said, “Although these 35 years were some of the best years of my life, I am looking forward to the new opportunities ahead.”

Chief Scippa said, “It has been an absolute privilege to work for this tremendous community and with the men and woman of the Stratham Police Department, as well as with all my fellow town employees.  It has been an honor to have served as this community’s Police Chief and I will fondly remember my time here.”
