Special Meeting 03/30/2018

A special meeting of the Board of Trustees took place on Friday, March 30, 2018, at Wiggin Memorial Library.  The meeting was called to order at 4:02 p.m. by Trustee Kate Kim.  The following people were also in attendance:  Trustee Steve Simons, Trustee Nate Clinard, Trustee JoAnne Ward, Trustee Geri Denton, and Library Director Lesley Kimball. Guests included Kathy Bower.

1. Planning discussion for celebration (National Medal finalist status)
   1. Kathy Bower presented her offer of donating money to the library for a celebration to honor the nomination for the National Medal for Museum & Library Service.  She is prepared to donate $500 individually or double her donation if it can be matched by the community.
   2. Date and Place:  The decision was made to hold the celebration at the library. Sunday, April 15 from 1pm-3pm was identified as the best time for the party.
   3. Refreshments:  Different aspects of serving alcohol were discussed from the legality to logistics, it was decided that serving alcohol would be too challenging.  An assortment of savory and sweet items will be served, possibly catered by Lesley Blaney.
   4. Entertainment:  Exploring possibility of a student quartet?  It would be best to keep the entertainment calm so that conversations can be held.
   5. Raffle:  A conversation was held to discuss possible prizes. An I-Pad Pro for $899 was discussed.  Two tickets for Hamilton for $750 was another suggestion.  A personal chef was suggested as well.  People are going to research and come back over email to make a decision.

II. Next Regular Meeting: Monday, April 9, 2018 at 6:30 p.m.

1. Adjournment:  Geri Denton moved to adjourn the meeting.  Steve Simons seconded the motion and the motion was approved unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 5:20 p.m.
