Safe Routes to School update-

-Received notice to proceed from NHDOT (Tavis working to negotiate final price with the engineering firm for the Travel Plan). Should be able to secure the consultants for 6/5 community forum & Rockingham Planning will submit for the next phase of NHDOT approval process.

-CMS task force: notice going out again to CMS population for SRTS survey.

-SMS task force: mostly wrapped up for this school year, resident/parent input forum set for June 5, 3 bike rodeos with P&R set for weekdays in June

-ideas/suggestions presented by SB-set brainstorm session (5/31 @ 12pm with Scott Bogle & Tavis Austin) to prep for 6/5 (unsure if TEC or SRTS task force will run the meeting):

1. Welcome

2. Description of grant project

3. Presentation on SRTS concepts & preliminary SRTS survey findings

4. Input component (4 focus areas with questions to public & include a map station)

-discussed continuing the publicity at both schools & sending personal reminders to bring people to community forum on 6/5

-Chief Scippa beginning work on recording traffic counts & speed (useful data for work later)

Status on PCAC Survey distributed in March

-have heard from over 250 respondents & have maximized outreach possibilities. Committee decided to close it effective 5/29. The plan is for BK & SH to review results and prepare planning board presentation.

Updates & continued work re: master trails map (paper & electronic versions)-

Seth working on updating the SHP trails map using a new system (much easier to use) with the Rockingham Planning Commission. He will bring feedback from working with this new tool to the committee as a possible method for future trail planning.

Update on town walking/biking routes with points of interest

-MJ update from conversation with heritage commission on routes & points of interest. If PCAC can suggest a trail/route, they will help with info regarding interest points. Moving this project forward, it will be useful to work with SH and the new mapping tool to draft some possible routes. MJ looking at some ideas, esp. feels important to find a crossing point/flashing solar sign to allow crossover of Rte 33. Rockingham Planning Commission should have culverts, etc. mapped so can be an additional resource of information.

Public comment-

Info on “Take A Kid Mountain Biking” day requested-300 kids attended (despite questionable weather).

The next meeting of the PCAC will be 6:30pm on June 12, 2018 in the Municipal Center’s Hutton Room.

There being a lack of quorum, the meeting was adjourned at 8:58am.

Respectfully submitted by Andrea Benson, Secretary
