Special Thank Yous
This time of year is a good time to thank the residents of Stratham for their support all year round.  In particular, we want to recognize the volunteers who put time in in countless ways to help run and improve the Town.  This might be done through responding to emergency calls as a volunteer Fire Department; volunteering at any of the community events hosted by the Fire, Police, or Recreation Departments; or service on all the various Boards, Commission and Committees of the Town.  We thank you for your service, it is invaluable to this community.

CHRISTMAS EVE HOURS FOR TOWN OFFICES
Please note, the Town Offices will be closed beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 24th. 

TOWN CLERK ANNOUNCEMENT
The Town Clerk’s office now has 2020 dog tags and 2020 boat decals.  We can now register your dogs and boats for 2020.

DELAY IN TRASH/RECYCLING COLLECTION
Due to the holidays, trash and recycling pick up will be delayed by one day next week (week of December 23rd) and the week of New Year’s (week of December 30th).  If your pick up is normally on Thursday, it will be on Friday.  If your pick up is normally on Friday, it will be on Saturday.

LIGHTS 4 LIVES CONTEST RAISES $17,000 TO SUPPORT TEAM SWEENEY IN THEIR EFFORTS TO FIND A CURE FOR CYSTIC FIBROSIS

The Stratham Volunteer Fire Department Association (SVFDA) celebrated its 6th annual Lights 4 Lives house lighting contest and Open House last weekend and raised $17,000 to support Team Sweeny and their son Liam, a 10-year old boy who was born with Cystic Fibrosis. The Nault Family of Chapman Road won the home lighting contest. New this year, the Stratham Teachers Association at Stratham Memorial School, where Liam attends as a 5th grader, hosted a PJ fundraiser day. For a small donation, kids could wear their PJ’s to school along with their “Light up for Liam” t-shirt, the product of an additional fundraiser that was held. Residents are invited to view pictures of the homes that entered the contest as well as the route, and learn more about Team Sweeney at the Lights 4 Lives website and on the L4L Facebook page. 

SENIOR GATHERING SPACE

Over 60 seniors, Town officials and staff attended an opening of the Senior Gathering Space at Stratham’s Town Offices on Tuesday December 11th.  The crowd celebrated the opening of a space for seniors. The event opened with remarks from the Chairman of the Select Board stressing the importance of providing services to the senior population in Stratham.

The Senior Gathering Space is open Monday - Friday from 8:30am - 4pm. 

TOY DRIVE

The Police Department is holding their first Toy Drive to benefit the Seacoast Area Toy Bank. Over twenty (20) collection boxes have been placed at businesses throughout the Stratham area.  The toys have been pouring in, and a final collection will be held on Saturday, the 21st.  Please join us from 10am-2pm in the front parking lot of the police department for some coffee, hot chocolate, pastries and chili provided by Dunkin Donuts and The Tailgate Tavern.  We are also trying to get Santa here, and are awaiting a reply.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY EVENT
On Monday, January 13th, the Stratham Historical Society in conjunction with the Wiggin Memorial Library will be hosting a presentation by Jeff Warner of Portsmouth and the New Hampshire Humanities entitled “Songs of Old New Hampshire”.  Please join us in the Morgera Room at the Fire Station beginning at 7:00 pm.     

TREASURER SEARCH
The Town of Stratham NH is seeking a detail-oriented, thorough, and organized treasurer to join our newly reorganized Finance team. In this position, you will are responsible for the custody, timely deposit, disbursement, investment, and reconciliation of Town funds in compliance with statutory standards. This is a part-time stipend position, with a time commitment of approximately 40 hours per month.
