Honoring Bob O'Sullivan

Message from the Town of Stratham Select Board
on the passing of former School and Select Board Member Robert O’Sullivan

The town of Stratham lost an extremely dedicated public servant when former School Board and Select Board member Bob O’Sullivan passed away on February 8, 2022. He and his wife Penny moved to Stratham in 1994, and while his daughter was a student at Stratham Memorial School, he became involved in supporting the public school system.

Bob was ultimately on the Stratham School District Board for 19 years, serving as Board Chair for several of those years.  Through his tireless efforts, the Stratham Memorial School saw the advent of Full-Day Kindergarten, Student Enrichment programs, and the MakerSpace.  He was involved in the negotiation of multiple teacher contracts as well as the search for a new principal in 2018. Bob believed that teachers should be paid at a wage that allowed them to call Stratham home.

A presentation given during the 2020 Stratham School District Town Meeting, marking his retirement from the Board, noted his vision, positivity, and passion: “Stratham was near and dear to his heart,” said a fellow school board member. “And he was a huge advocate for public education.”  We are all fortunate for his hard work over two decades of public service.

We honor and thank Bob for his example of selfless service to our community.
