Renovation to Pump Track Coming to Stratham Hill Park

Seacoast Velo Kids to Continue Support for Popular Facility

The Town of Stratham Select Board has approved a proposal from Seacoast Velo Kids to perform a renovation of the current pump track at Stratham Hill Park.

Seacoast Velo Kids approached the Town of Stratham in January of 2021 regarding a renovation of the existing pump track at Stratham Hill Park. The pump track was originally constructed in 2014 and has under gone several volunteer lead renovations. As part of the proposal, Seacoast Velo Kids will fund and coordinate the design and construction of the renovation as well as raise funds to do the work.

The renovation will take place entirely within the footprint of the existing facility.  The current perimeter fence will remain; the new design will upgrade the existing pump track surface, improve drainage and better flow and more progressive features.  The track will feature two areas, one designed for young riders and the other for riders with more advanced skills.

Seacoast Velo Kids has had a long standing relationship with the Town of Stratham over the last eight years. Stratham Hill Park has hosted annual events with Seacoast Velo Kids that have included Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day and the Summer Ride Program. Seacoast Velo Kids partnered with the town three years ago to secure funding for additional loam material for the pump track through the Portsmouth Rotary Club.

Moving the plan forward

Seacoast Velo Kids attended the Select Board meeting on January 19th requesting the opportunity to engage with a design firm to develop a plan for the existing footprint of the pump track. Seacoast Velo Kids selected Powder Horn Trail Company to develop a design for the pump track.

At the Select Board meeting on May 17th, 2021 the Board approved Seacoast Velo Kids to move forward with their fundraising campaign for the proposed pump track renovation.  Seacoast Velo Kids anticipates hosting several fundraising campaigns over the coming months to raise the needed funds.
