Conservation Commission Members Present: Bill McCarthy, Bob Keating, Allison Knab, Tim Copeland, Ana Egana

Meeting Called to order @ 7:03 PM

CC minutes:
            Public Minutes from July 26, 2017
                        Tim Copeland moved to accept the minutes changing “Ana McCarthy” to “Ana Egana”
                        Allison Knab second – motion passed unanimously

Mailbox:
            Received check for $50 for compost bin, check given to Paul Deschaine

Social Media Policy:
            As moderator of the CC Facebook page, Pat Elwell will need to sign the acknowledgement lettter.

Municipal update:
            Board of selectmen interested in making better use of town assets and has requested that the Heritage Commission provides opinion regarding uses of town property located at 82 Portsmouth Ave. Commission needs input of intended uses and has sent an email to all town commissions, dept. heads, etc.  One possible use proposed by the energy commission is a solar array.

            Town developing MS4 methodology in cooperation with other surrounding towns.  Should increase certainty of compliance given group effort. 

            Planning Board to have workshop on possible new zoning amendment and regulation changes at the next regularly scheduled meeting. 

            Past Monday, selectmen discussed Breslyn farm development due to the circulation of rumors that the project included section 8 housing.

Barker Farm update:
Allison Knab to attend site walk with 4 LCHP members along with Seth Hickey from the Recreation Dept.  LCHP members interested in Gordon Barker’s role on CC.  CC members provided a number of examples for Allison to pass along.

Treatment of Fields on School Properties:
            A group invited Allison Knab to attend a meeting where a discussion of lawn treatments on school properties.  Bob Keating indicated that it would be helpful to know the history of lawn treatments (e.g. how many applications of fertilizers, etc.).  It seems that the group may not know what their end goal is.

Next regular meeting scheduled for 7 PM on Wednesday, August 23rd at the Municipal Center.
