Meeting Minutes
April 17, 2019

In Attendance:  Tracy Abbott; Sean Burke; Brian DeKoning; Sean Kotkowski; Frank LaSorsa; Jeff Simeone; Seth Hickey, Parks & Recreation Director

Absent: April Mason; Joe Lovejoy, Selectmen’s Rep.

The meeting was called to order at 7:06 pm.

General

The General Budget was reviewed.

The Revolving Fund budget was reviewed. Frank suggested using some of the funds in the Summer Camp line to help purchase a mini-bus/van.

Seth discussed the Food Truck Festival which will be held on Saturday, May 4th from 12-5pm.  They are looking for volunteers and have a sign-up website available to use.

Brian discussed the Master Planning Committee’s plan to hold a community outreach event in May to get the Town’s residents input and opinions into the Master Plan revisions being suggested. Date To Be Announced.

It was mentioned that the Town’s website shows (3) open positions for the Stratham Recreation Commission.  Tracy will follow-up with Karen to update any outdated information.

Stevens Park

Seth reported that the tennis courts will be getting refinished this summer, Sean B. suggested looking into getting a Corporate sponsor to help offset costs; Seth is looking into offering Pickle Ball at Stevens.          

Stratham Hill Park

Seth reported that Liberty Mutual will be on-site in April/May for (4) days with approx. 25 people/day to assist with some of our projects; water will be back on at the Park May 1st.

Sports Boards

Sean K. discussed Softball’s issues with getting enough field time, they will be looking into how to utilize their indoor spaces more.

Programs

Seth discussed the Trail Running Series which will be held Thursday nights in May; the Mountain Bike Series is all set to go this summer; and there will be a Cyclocross Series held in September.

Summer Camp is full and at double the capacity as seen in former years.  Staff is all set and ready to go.

Community Trip offerings include the Portland Symphony Orchestra and a trip on the Boston Duck Boats.

Brian made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Jeff seconded. All were in favor, motion approved.
