STRATHAM MEMORIAL SCHOOL BOARD
The Board had a long discussion about the budget and to save taxpayers money, they voted to reduce the FY27 (school year ‘26-27) by $106,000. The overall budget is now 12.3% over last year’s budget, details below and more information available on the SMS website. Vote on the budget and the warrant article for the Teachers Union contract on Wednesday, March 4th at 6pm at SMS.

While the Board doesn’t have a crystal ball, they are estimating that this will be an average yearly increase of $560 (roughly an extra $47 per month) for a home valued at the average of $834,000, or 12.3% higher than this year’s taxes for just the SMS portion of the local school effort (40%) of your bill.
The Board hosted a tax info session on 2/10 and here is a link to the 1 hour long video with accompanying slides attached.
For more, please see the full meeting minutes here. For questions, email Board Chair Jennifer Scrafford at jscrafford@sau16.org.
