NHDOT Route 108 & Bunker Hill Proposed Improvements

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) has included the Signalization, Turn Lanes, and Intersection Realignment at the NH108 / Bunker Hill Intersection on its Ten-Year Transportation Improvement Plan project tracker for nearly the past eight years.

On July 7 and July 21, 2025, NHDOT presented to the Select Board the conceptual project for proposed improvements at the Bunker Hill Avenue and Frying Pan Lane / 108 Intersection. The goals of these presentations were to share the findings of the engineering assessments and to provide recommendations for addressing challenges at the Bunker Hill Avenue intersection while staying within funding constraints.

The Governor’s Advisory Commission on Intermodal Transportation (GACIT), which consists of the five Executive Councilors and the Commissioner of NHDOT,  scheduled public hearings across the state in September and October. The purpose of these hearings is to gather public comments and testimonies on transportation projects and priorities included in the draft 2027-2036 Ten-Year Transportation Improvement Plan, as recommended by NHDOT to GACIT.

There was a strong turnout at the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Intermodal Transportation (GACIT) hearings for the 2027-2036 Ten-Year Plan hearings, where Executive Councilor Janet Stevens and various speakers discussed several important projects and transportation needs. The Town offered written comments specific to the Bunker Hill Avenue /108 Intersection proposal.

The number of written comments received on different issues is closely monitored and considered by GACIT and NHDOT as they review potential changes to the Draft TYP before it is submitted to the Governor in December. NHDOT will be holding another Public Hearing within the community in the next few months.
