Smoke, heat, and zero visibility—just another day of training for the Stratham Fire Department.

Recently, Lieutenant Hersey led firefighters through an intensive SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus) confidence and search-and-rescue maze designed to simulate the challenging conditions encountered during a structure fire. With their facepieces completely covered, firefighters navigated the course using only touch, communication, teamwork, and disciplined air management to safely overcome obstacles.

Training like this reinforces the critical skills needed to operate effectively when visibility is lost and conditions are at their worst. Regular, realistic exercises help ensure our firefighters are prepared to respond safely and efficiently when our community needs them most.
