DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS PROJECTS

GIFFORD FARM FIRE POND
DPW crews are in the process of building a platform with railings to improve access to the fire pump at the pond on Gifford Farm Road.  This structure will provide a stable place for firefighters to safely hook up their hoses to the pump and will stop erosion into the pond.

Jack Rabbit Lane PavingJACK RABBIT LANE PAVING
DPW is pleased to announce the completion of our repaving project at Stratham Hill Park, located at the Jack Rabbit Lane parking lot.  This effort, which began last year, focused on enhancing the parking lots nearest the ballfields off of Gifford Farm Road.  The improvements will provide a smoother and more enjoyable experience for all park visitors.  Thank you for your patience and support during this project!

SMS BOARD JUNE UPDATE

June Board Meeting Summary

  • For financials, the SMS unassigned fund balance is projected to be roughly $507k, which will be returned to taxpayers after fiscal year-end, reducing next year's overall tax effort.
  • The PFOA remediation funding application is submitted, the estimated cost is $90k and it will likely be reimbursed by the state.
  • The building committee accepted eight new public members including experts from various construction fields and parent backgrounds, and the committee will meet monthly to help advise on the scope and process of the building renovation.  State aid is very limited and need based so Stratham is very unlikely to qualify.  Applying would delay the project by a year.
  • The board also discussed policy updates and were briefed on behavior and student privacy data.

For more, please see the full meeting minutes here

Our next board meeting will be Wednesday, September 18th at 6pm at the SMS library.
