ALS one year ceremony
ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF ALS INTERCEPT PROGRAM
On March 20, Chief Denton and Select Board Chair Allison Knab attended the one year anniversary of the ALS Intercept Program—launched after Exeter Hospital unexpectedly ended its long running paramedic intercept service. Thanks to the tremendous work of Chief Denton and numerous members of the department, Stratham stood up its own ALS program in record time.  As part of that effort, former Exeter ALS paramedic Hearshell VanLuven was hired as Stratham Fire’s first full time employee and Paramedic Coordinator, guiding the department through licensing, staffing, and equipping the new service. Today, seven experienced paramedics provide daytime Advanced Life Support coverage for our community.

SAU16-SMS
STRATHAM MEMORIAL SCHOOL BOARD UPDATE
The Town voted to approve the SMS operating budget, the Teachers Union Collective Bargaining Agreement ‘26-30, limits on Open Enrollment and investment in the technology trust fund. Limits on Open Enrollment allow the District to limit the number of students coming to SMS from other districts and leaving SMS to 0. This gives our town tighter financial control over the SMS budget. If an Open Enrollment Bill is passed in Concord the district’s legal counsel will be consulted, and the town updated on next steps. Almost 300 people showed up in person to vote. Thank you!

The renovation project is under budget and the new spaces are looking fantastic. If there are remaining funds after the renovation is complete, the money will be used for urgent projects such as failing windows.

The Board was briefed on mid-year student data and scores are looking excellent, right where they should be– thank you to SMS staff and administration!

For more, please see the full meeting minutes here
For questions, email Board Chair Jennifer Scrafford at jscrafford@sau16.org.  Our next board meeting will be on Wednesday April 15th at 6pm at the SMS library/learning commons.
