Join us on Sunday, December 1st at 4:50pm at the Stratham Fire Station for our annual community tree lighting event. Dress for the weather as this event is outdoors. Enjoy cookies and hot cocoa served by our Stratham Fire Department Auxiliary. Great way to kick off the holiday season. All are welcome!

If you have never been inside the Stratham Historical Society, please consider a visit on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 during our Open House from 5:00-7:00pm located at 158 Portsmouth Avenue at the corner of Winnicutt Road. The unique stone architecture of the building is matched by an equally unique arched wood interior. Even if you have visited before, come see what’s new. In addition to our usual displays, we will be introducing guests to three new exhibits: The Pearson Family scythe, see the Toll Bridge sign crossing into Newfields, and visit the frying pan for which Frying Pan Lane was named.

Stratham Fire Department Auxiliary and the American Red Cross are hosting a blood drive in the Morgera Room at the Fire Station on Thursday, December 12 from noon to 5:00pm. Please join this lifesaving mission and schedule an appointment today! Click here to make an appointment

To improve safety and waste management, Governor Sununu has signed a new law into effect (RSA 149-M:27) that bans the disposal of rechargeable batteries in regular waste streams. This law will take effect on July 1, 2025 and aims to prevent fires caused by improper battery disposal, reduce disposal costs, and protect the health and safety of waste management workers. Lithium-ion batteries are used in a variety of products, including electric toys, automotive vehicles, electric bikes and scooters, lawncare equipment, portable electronics such as cell phones, laptops, tablets, cameras, wireless headphones, speakers, toothbrushes and other rechargeable electronic devices. More information about this change can be found here.
What does this mean for you?
Proper Disposal: Rechargeable batteries must not be placed in regular trash. While the Stratham Transfer Station does not accept batteries, you can find a nearby recycling location through Call2Recycle’s Locator Tool.
Use the Call2Recycle Locator Tool to find a convenient battery recycling location near you and spread the word! Residents should contact the NHDES Household Hazardous Waste Program via email at hhw@des.nh.gov or by phone at (603) 271-2047.
