Display of Energy Efficiency Information

For the first time, the Stratham Energy Commission prepared a display of energy efficiency information in the Town of Stratham Informational tent at the 47th Annual Stratham Fair from July 18 through July 20, 2014.  The Stratham Tent was located at one of the main entrance gates, such that fair goers had to pass through the tent on their way to the other events featured at the Fair.  Besides free energy information handouts provided by Unitil and PSNH, Unitil also donated tote bags  to carry the articles which were selected from our display.

The University of New Hampshire Energy Department donated a 12 volt generator pedal system as shown in the attached photos.  Many people made the effort to pedal the generator so that they could compare the amount of effort it took to light an LED bulb, as opposed to the effort to light an incandescent bulb.  The difference was clearly dramatic, in that it took minimal pedaling to create the wattage necessary to light the LED bulb.   One could almost work up a sweat to light the incandescent bulb!

Frank Pugh from Alternative Energy Management attended the Fair to assist the Energy Commission by providing an LED display for the fair goers to see the difference in various LED light designs and lumen capabilities.

The Commission felt that their several displays begat many questions and comments from the fair goers.  We know that we encouraged many to consider energy efficiency measures in their homes. We were very pleased by the reception we received at the Fair and we are looking forward to next year’s Fair.
