ALTERNATE OPENINGS ON STRATHAM LAND USE BOARDS
Interested in putting your stamp on how Stratham develops?  The Planning Board and Zoning Board of Adjustment both currently have openings for alternate member positions.  The Planning Board reviews and decides on development proposals, advances long-term planning efforts, oversees the town’s development regulations, and proposes annual zoning amendments. The Zoning Board reviews and decides on special permits and variance applications (requests for property owners to use their land in a way that would otherwise contradict the zoning regulations).  Alternate members participate fully in board reviews and discussions, but do not vote on items unless a regular member is not present at a meeting.  There are also current openings for the Recreation Commission and Trail Management Advisory Committee.  If you’re interested in serving on a Stratham board or commission, consider submitting an application.  Or for more information, contact planning@strathamnh.gov

summer campPARKS & RECREATION SUMMER CAMP
Stratham Parks and Recreation offered another successful summer camp this year at Stratham Memorial School. Today was the last day of a five-week program.  The camp hosted over one hundred campers each week, nearly 30 middle school students in their counselor training program and employed over 25 staff. The camp grew by over 50% this summer over last.  Campers enjoyed sports and games, arts and crafts and weekly bus trips to the beach.  This program provides social interaction, physical activity and assistance to Stratham families in providing child care.  This program is entirely self funded.  Registration for next years camp will take place in mid-January.  A big thank you to our summer camp counselors, staff and our Parks & Recreation Department for this wonderful program.

RECONSTRUCTION OF DRAINAGE ON APPLE WAY
The heavy rains in early July caused the edge of the road on Apple Way to wash out.  The issue was exacerbated by an overgrowth of trees and weeds blocking the culvert and not allowing for proper drainage.  Our DPW team worked diligently to clear the culvert and regrade the slope of the hill properly.  This project took several weeks to complete.  We are very happy with the results!  Thank you to our dedicated Public Works team!
