GATEWAY IMPLEMENTATION (TIF DISTRICT) OUTREACH EVENT

Many thanks to the residents who attended the outreach session last night related to Gateway Implementation and the proposed TIF district.  We especially appreciate the time and expertise leant to the discussion by Exeter Economic Development Director Darren Winham and Bedford Town Manager (and Stratham native) Rick Sawyer.  Both practitioners have implemented TIF programs in their communities and are realizing the increased tax valuations from the substantial public investments made in the strategic areas they identified.  Both of these districts are strategic transportation corridors with approximately the acreage of our proposed district.  There are many examples of NH communities catalyzing desired development through the use of this tool and we are grateful to have been able to learn more about two of them last night.  Thank you Darren, Rick and those who joined us for the discussion.

For more information about last night, please see the presentation posted on the Town’s Gateway Implementation website.

TONIGHT’S HERITAGE COMMISSION EVENT IS ON
Steve Taylor, former State Agriculture Commissioner and popular New Hampshire Humanities speaker, will present “New Hampshire Roads Taken – Or Not” in an evening program sponsored by the Heritage Commission and supported by “Humanities To Go.”  Taylor’s talk will review the history of New Hampshire’s highway choices in the last century and the economic, social, and cultural changes that followed those decisions. The program will be in the Morgera Room at the Stratham Fire House, Winnicutt Rd., on Friday, February 7, at 7PM.
