CHIEF KING RECEIVES GUBERNATORIAL APPOINTMENT TO ACCREDITATION COMMISSION
Police Chief Anthony King was recently appointed by Governor Christopher Sununu to the newly formed New Hampshire Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission. The Commission was established by executive order in order to create a mechanism for local police departments to become accredited and recognized for meeting statewide and national standards in law enforcement. The accreditation program is one of 48 recommended items produced by the Commission on Law Enforcement Accountability, Community, and Transparency (LEACT), a group of police representatives and reform advocates who met in 2020 to find ways to improve laws and programs around policing in the state.

The Commission consists of representatives from: NH Police Standards and Training Council, Attorney General’s Office, Senate, House, New Hampshire Association of Chiefs of Police, New Hampshire Sheriff’s Association, a college or university and member of the public.  The Commission will make recommendations to the Council – which trains all New Hampshire law enforcement officers – over what the department-wide accreditation criteria should look like, according to the executive order.

Having recently led the Stratham Police Department in achieving national recognition by the Commission on Accreditation for law Enforcement (CALEA) and as a long-time proponent of law enforcement accreditation, Chief King is extremely proud to have been chosen to serve on this Commission.  He brings knowledge, experience and expertise to this program that will benefit the law enforcement profession, and citizenry of this state.

REMOVAL OF WATER RESTRICTIONS
At their meeting on October 20th, the Select Board agreed to remove the Level 1 water restrictions based on data from the Drought Monitor indicating Stratham has moved to "abnormally dry" conditions.
