Severe Drought Continues in Stratham; Cooperation by Residents Needed
As urged by State of NH, Stratham is adopting Water Restriction
Rockingham County is experiencing sustained severe drought conditions. Recently, Stratham joined other communities in urging water conservation through its newsletter and message board placement around Town; and late last week NH DES urged municipalities adopt water restriction regulations in accordance with RSA 41:11.
At their regular meeting, on August 31st, the Select Board voted to implement water restrictions in accordance with this state request and a prohibition on lawn watering (level 3) will take effect on Saturday September 12, 2020. During this drought and until further notice, lawn watering will be prohibited as part of a statewide strategy for preserving groundwater supplies that serve as critical resources for Stratham households and businesses. All efforts to curb and reduce use of water during this time will benefit water supplies we all rely on.
